The much-anticipated Middleweight fight between Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker is expected to take place at UFC 243 on October 5. UFC boss Dana White was speaking to media reporters on Wednesday, claiming that this fight will ‘blow the doors off Australia’. The fight is likely to take place in Sydney this time, after injury prevented Whittaker from fighting Kelvin Gastelum in February.
These two men are in excellent form right now, boasting a combined career MMA record of 37-4. As long as both men are healthy, this projects as one of the best fights on the 2019 UFC calendar.
Cejudo Out for the Rest of 2019
After the joys of becoming a champ-champ, Henry Cejudo will not fight again for the rest of 2019. He tore his rotator cuff against Marlon Moraes last time out, an injury that is set to keep him out at least 5-6 months. It comes at a poor time for Cejudo, who is in the best form of his storied career.
That said, he now has time to relax and plan out his next move, where he has an abundance of available options. Never one to lack confidence, Cejudo would likely still back himself to retain the title even with this injury.
Korean Zombie Seeks Redemption
The Korean Zombie made headlines last time out, getting knocked out in literally the last second of his 5-round epic with Yair Rodriguez. He felt somewhat embarrassed after that fight but could proudly say that he laid it all on the line.
Fortunately, he has the chance to redeem himself in Saturday night’s main event against Renato Moicano in Greenville. Now 14-5 in his MMA career and 4-2 in the UFC, he isn’t too far from a title shot, especially if he can prove himself this weekend.
