After a 16-fight tenure, John Lineker has been released from the UFC. Many suspect this is because he pulled out of a co-main event with Rob Font last month just days before the actual fight. Lineker certainly didn’t struggle in the UFC, winning 12 of his 16 fights and earning a reputation as a very hard hitter. At just 29 years of age, I think it’s likely he ultimately ends up finding a home with either Bellator or the ONE Championship.
Blachowicz Not Worried About Rockhold
Much has been made in the media about how Luke Rockhold’s southpaw stance could trouble Jan Blachowicz this weekend. The Polish veteran insists he is more than ready for Rockhold and is eyeing a potential title fight with Jon Jones. Blachowicz has shown immense quality throughout his lengthy MMA career, going 23-8 as a professional. Even as an underdog against Rockhold, this Saturday’s bout shapes up as likely the biggest of his career to date.
Weidman Looking to Avenge Rockhold Loss
Having lost four of his last five fights, Chris Weidman has officially decided to make the move to Light Heavyweight. Weidman suggested to TMZ overnight that a major reason for his move is that he wants a fight with Luke Rockhold.
Rockhold handed Weidman his first loss in the UFC and his MMA career and the All-American just hasn’t been the same since. Given Weidman’s horrific form of late, I think he should focus more on getting some wins on the board before calling anyone in particular out.
