Jon Jones has taken to Twitter to unload on Light Heavyweight contenders Anthony Smith and Corey Anderson. Both appear to have taken subtle shots at Jones in the press recently and the GOAT is having none of it.
Jones thoroughly dismantled Smith in March early this year and looks like he may fight Anderson before 2019 is up. I don’t think either of these guys can challenge Jones in a bout, but this could be a good way to sell some more pay per views.
Masvidal Eyeing McGregor or Usman Fight
Jorge Masvidal’s management team has come out and said that he will only fight either Conor McGregor or Kamaru Usman next. Masvidal is in arguably the best form of his career, dismantling Darren Till in England and knocking Ben Askren out in just 5 seconds last time out.
One of the more charismatic fighters in the UFC, ‘Gamebred’ has a large following that could translate to a money fight for McGregor. That said, after his demolition of Ben Askren last time out, no-one can begrudge a potential title fight with Usman.
Zhang to Make Most of Title Shot
Weili Zhang was surprised to get a title shot at UFC Shenzhen but she plans to make the most of it in front of her home fans. She takes on Jessica Andrade at Strawweight for the chance to be the first Chinese UFC champion.
Zhang only has 3 UFC fights to her name, however she is a very impressive 19-1 in her MMA career. While I think Andrade will be rightly favored, an upset by Zhang can’t be ruled out.
