UFC President Dana White confirmed that a fight between Conor McGregor and Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone is back on the table. White had dismissed the fight only a few months ago but Cerrone’s impressive performance on Saturday night likely changed his mind.
For this fight to occur, McGregor would of course need to opt out of the retirement he announced in late March. He has spent most of his time since working on his whiskey business, which appears to be doing quite well. Cerrone expressed interest in fighting McGregor this upcoming July, so watch this space.
Volkanovski Confident of ‘Breaking’ Jose Aldo
Australian Featherweight Alex Volkanovski is very confident he can beat Jose Aldo at UFC 237 this weekend. On the popular ‘UFC Embedded’ series, he claimed that he can ‘break anyone’ including a legend like Aldo. Volkanovski is currently the #3 ranked contender in the division and boasts a 19-1 career MMA record.
Aldo of course has had immense success in Brazil, only losing 1 UFC fight there previously to Max Holloway. Unbeaten since joining the UFC, Volkanovski understandably sees this as his best shot at an upcoming title fight.
Rose Namajunas Surprised to be Betting Underdog
Despite being the current Strawweight champion, Namajunas has opened as a +120 underdog for her title fight with Jessica Andrade at UFC 237. This fight will headline the card, backed up by an exciting co-main between Anderson Silva and Jared Cannonier.
Namajunas has every right to be confident, entering this fight after consecutive victories over previous champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Jessica Andrade definitely won’t be a walkover however, fighting in front of what is sure to be a raucous home crowd. Both of these fighters love to go for the finish and I’m expecting another exciting event this weekend.
