Known for his ability to get under his opponents’ skin, Colby Covington has now angered former champion Tyron Woodley. Woodley was particularly annoyed at the comments he made about Matt Hughes and the disrespect he has shown Brazilian culture in the past.
He went as far as to text Dana White to set a matchup between the two, claiming that he’d f**k Covington up. As things stand, Covington looks more likely to get the next Welterweight title shot when Usman is back healthy.
Shevchenko Poised for Nunes Trilogy Fight
The UFC heads to Uruguay this week, with Valentina Shevchenko’s Flyweight title fight acting as the headliner. She is the huge favorite to defend her title against Liz Carmouche, currently seen at -1000 odds.
This all but ensures a victory for Shevchenko, who claims to want a 3rd shot at Amanda Nunes after this. Now well established as the female GOAT, it remains to be seen who Nunes will battle next.
Askren and Maia Set for Intriguing Bout
We’re set for another intriguing bout which could shape the Welterweight division going forward. Ben Askren and Demian Maia are now booked in for UFC on ESPN + 20 in Singapore on the 26th of October.
This pits two of the best wrestlers and submission artists that the division has ever seen against each other. If Askren wins, he definitely plays himself back into contention for the title.
