Tony Ferguson’s Potential Early Return

It looks like controversial UFC Lightweight Tony Ferguson could be set for a return to the octagon. He arrived in Las Vegas late on Sunday night to discuss his future with the UFC brass. By all accounts, the meeting went well and Ferguson figures to feature atop the Lightweight division.

He took to Twitter to share this news, saying “I’m back MF’s”. A few UFC analysts have commented that he isn’t officially back, but it figures to just be a matter of time. Enjoying an impressive 11-fight win streak at Lightweight, you’d figure it won’t be too long before he gets another title shot.

Al Iaquinta Gets Medical Suspension

After being brutally beaten by Donald Cerrone on Saturday Night, Al Iaquinta also gets a medical suspension for his troubles. A spokesperson for the Ontario Athletic Commission stated that this would last 180 days, essentially 6 months. Iaquinta claims that this can be cleared, so it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out going forward.

Even if Iaquinta is cleared, it may be best for him to take some time to fully heal before getting back in the octagon. His opponent, Donald Cerrone, also received a mandatory 14-day suspension after a decision victory.

Stephen Thompson Unavailable for UFC Fight Night in Greenville

Local favorite Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson won’t be fit for the UFC Fight Night in Greenville on June 22. Thompson insists he is keen to get back into the octagon but won’t risk doing so too early.

Th main event will now feature Chan Sung Jung, aka the Korean Zombie. He will face Brazilian Renato Moicano to headline what appears to be a very solid card. Hopefully, Thompson can get better soon and try his luck at another title shot in what is a very stacked Welterweight division.
