We brought you a story yesterday about Urijah Faber coming out of retirement to face an unknown opponent. The details of that fight have emerged and it is now clear that he’ll face Ricky Simon in Sacramento on July 13. While it hasn’t yet been formally announced by the UFC, sources close to the situation state that verbal agreements have been made by all parties.
Simon will certainly be a tough return opponent for Faber, having won his last 8 MMA fights, 3 of which were in the UFC. In front of his home fans, you know Faber will give everything he has in what likely shapes as the main event.
Figueredo vs Pantoja Set for UFC 240
Ahead of an exciting UFC 240 in Canada later this year, the UFC has announced several matchups that will take place. While the headliner will still be Max Holloway vs Frankie Edgar, 5 new supporting fights have been announced. Chief among these is the matchup between flyweight contenders Deiveson Figueredo and Alexandre Pantoja.
The two men enter this bout in excellent form, sporting a combined MMA record of 36-4. A Welterweight affair between Erik Koch and Kyle Stewart adds further to the excitement, making this a can’t miss event.
Mirsad Bektic Returning to the Octagon
After a relatively long layoff, Featherweight Mirsad Bektic will return to the octagon to take on Josh Emmett in the UFC on ESPN+ 13 on July 13th in Sacramento. It has been over 12 months since the 28-year-old last fought after dealing with a myriad of injuries.
His 34-year-old opponent is in excellent form, winning 4 of his last 5 fights and managing an epic KO of Michael Johnson in March. With the Faber fight set to take place on the same night, this looks like an excellent supporting bout.
